Hello everyone, welcome to WP Boffins. This is your host Mizan. This is another brand new video from my WordPress management series named WordPress for Absolute Beginner. So far we have learned about how to install WordPress, A quick look at the WordPress Dashboard, and also we have learned about the Commonly used WordPress Terms. In the last video, we also learned about post and post categories. In today’s video, I will discuss – what is Tag, the Difference between tag and category, and how to use the WordPress tag in a post or page. Finally, we will discuss the importance of having tags. So, Let’s get started.
WordPress tag is one of the default tools you can use to categorize your WordPress posts. Each post can contain multiple tags and visitors can click on a tag to find similar posts that have that same tag.
Unlike WordPress categories, tags are completely optional. That is, you’re free to add WordPress tags to your post, but you can also publish a post without tags. The choice is yours!
On a technical level, both tags and categories are types of taxonomies. Taxonomy is just a fancy word for a way to group things together (like your WordPress posts).
