In episode 5 of Factorio Megabase Tutorial we discuss and show examples for Rail System Design, Mainline size, and Junction spacing. In addition, I also talk about some alternative ways to reduce train traffic and jams on your mainline by using point to point rail systems and splitting up your builds and mining. Placing your builds and therefore your train junctions too close together can result in some major jams and backups.
This can somewhat be fixed by having a larger mainline, such as a 4 lane system compared to a 2 lane system. But this isn’t just an instant fix as you might think it is. There is usually some tweaking and changing of the turn offs and lane use that will be required to truly take advantage of those extra lanes!
