Super SEO Tips: Get to the top of Google in 3 days – Not Click-bait! Real Map 3-Pack

Search Engine Optimization Tips

KAPOW and welcome to Super SEO – the new weekly series where Dorset Tech, the Superhero agency, share our best tips to get your website to the top of Google.

This week we’re looking at the Google Map 3-Pack and our technique of “Pack Policing” that can get you to the top of your local search in just 2-3 days!

Before you do anything, you need to make sure you’re tracking your results. Sign up to one of the various rank trackers and make sure Google analytics is set-up. I’ll cover these in detail in an upcoming video.
Once you’ve done that, you need to ask yourself 2 questions:
What’s your biggest target search term?
What’s the best area to target?
If you’re unsure about that then use a free tool like Ubersuggest to find out how many searches there are and how competitive it is.

We have a brand new website with a new domain that has no history, so for a term like Dorset SEO we should be and in fact are, ranking on page 2 of Google, but look where we are… we’re in the 3-pack at the top.

We’re there because our Google My Business listing is well optimised – it’s your shortcut to great local SEO. We have keywords in the title, description and of course on the webpage we link to. It really is a no brainer to edit your listing and really optimise it. Email your customers and ask your social media followers to leave you some reviews too as that will help.

But that’s not the best tip I’ve got – the best thing you can do is what I call map pack policing.

Map Pack Policing is a term that I come up with and it involves cleaning your local area of optimised listings, from time to time you’ll notice others doing it to you too, but as it’s relatively unheard of, you’ve got the upperhand and can stay on top of it. Set a diary reminder to police your map once a month.
