Small business SEO tips | SEO for small business

Search Engine Optimization Tips

Are you a small business owner trying to do SEO for your own website? I recommend leaving it to the experts, but if you just have to do it yourself, then this is a good start.

1. Do keyword research here http://google.com/adwords then go to tools and analysis in the menu, and click on keyword tool. Keep your results in a text file for future useage when labelling blog posts, videos, and modifying your Title and h1 tags of your website.

2. Get your free business listing from Google here: http://www.google.com/placesforbusiness

Use your keywords from step one to fill out the listing. Remember, you have to tell Google’s robots what your business is about, so help the robot do its job and it will reward you with a beneficial high ranking in Google. Fill out the listing in its entirety, including 10 photos (rename them with your keywords before uploading them) and 5 videos whose title contain one of your valuable keywords. Just make some videos using Animoto.com and upload them to your Youtube channel, then copy the URL of the video and paste it into the field for videos in Google Places. Always use your keywords for video titles, blog posts, page headings of your website, etc.

All this stuff really works. It takes a little effort and work, but do it right the first time and you’ll not only be making enough money to pay for your time or $ investment into your local business’s SEO, you’ll be saving money, time, and headaches.
