Google Search Engine Results Page (SERP) Primer – Local Search Optimization Tips – BasementMarketing

Search Engine Optimization Tips

When we talk to clients about maximizing Google Local Search, we often start with a primer on Search Results. What does the Google Search Results Page look like? What are it’s parts? What information does Google think is important? What are our competitors doing?

By looking thoroughly at the Google Search Engine Results Page (SERP), we can learn about how Google looks at searches for our Products or Services, and our specific business. Armed with this information, we can make decisions about where to spend our time or money.

In this video we start off by simply doing a couple of Google searches. In each search, different aspects of the SERP present themselves. The first for our businesses is often the Google Map Pack. But ahead of that can be paid Google Ads and Google Local Service Ads. In some results pages, citations from popular directories make a big difference. In others, directories aren’t as important. In most cases, Google My Business optimization is one of if not the most important factor.

And sometimes, we just won’t be able to perform in all of the searches because there are too many competitors to consistently get into that Map Pack.

We hope you enjoyed the video and found it educational. We’ll be following this video up with more content over the coming weeks and months. We’ll be continuing to dive into Google local search, but we’ll also be covering social media, email marketing, paid advertising, and other digital marketing strategies.

Ultimately, our goal is to get out of the basement! So if you are interested in improving your local search or any aspect of your digital marketing, please consider choosing BasementMarketing.
