Having an online portfolio and an online presence can give you a huge advantage over other candidates when applying for jobs. It becomes a flexible, searchable and customizable place for all your work, professional experience and interests, as you move along in your career.
Also, studies have shown that 70% of your potential employers Google you before setting up an interview. A website can help you can control exactly what they see, with a personalized website.
This is a part of a series I’ll be doing on the whole job application process, and should be watched with my other video, where I talk about building an architecture portfolio in PDF / print. Using the images / information you’ve selected in that video, you can start to populate the website.
I’ll be using Wix, which is one of the most intuitive website building platforms I have used. There’s a high level of visual control, so it’s great for people like myself, who care a lot about little details, like the dimension of the white space.
