You can use chatbots, pop-ups or various other embeddable widgets in the place of our “blank widget” demo – but sometimes you just want to keep the URL at the top branded to your domain and not have anything else.

Enter the super complex script: blank widget!

It puts a HTML Space on the page using an iFrame which keeps your custom domain at the top of the URL bar. I tend to think it best to give credit where credit is due when currating content, but in this video I showed you how we can also do this on Google Docs + our own content on various sites that support iFrames.

Not all sites support iFrame embeds and that is important to note. Switchy suggests that only 3% of sites do not support iFrames, therefore most of the sites that you try this on should work. I have found a lot of the more reputable news sites to block iFrames as well as sites dealing with financial transactions and e-commerce. That makes sense as you definitely should not be using this to do anything mischievous.

I implore you to do this ethically. As I said, giving credit where credit is due is only right and this should be used not to disguise or trick people, but rather to help you remember links/brand docs or things that make sense to your brand. Using this strategy to trick people is wrong – even if it does make for a pretty neat parlor trick.
