Do It Yourself – Website Tutorials

In the last section, we cover how to get a domain and hosting for your site. I don’t know about you but when I first heard of hosting and domain I had no idea what it was.

To give you an analogy, you can think of a domain as an apartment that you lease once a year and the hosting is the monthly rent for the apartment.

Think of a website as online real-estate, your website takes up space in the internet so you need to pay someone else to rent you space online. You can create your own servers and not have to pay hosting but that’s so hard and you need a lot of technical knowledge.

It’s better to pay $20/month for it. With Siteground, you can host as many websites as you’d like, unlike other companies that charge $15 – $30 per website.

Moving on, you pay for a domain once a year and for hosting monthly. Siteground has affordable prices, especially for your first year.

Once you bought your domain and hosting, you need to add your domain as an “addon domain” from cPanel to give you more advanced options regarding the domain. Like adding files and email addresses.

You also need to add an SSL certificate so Google doesn’t blacklist you from their search results page. This is the page you see after making a Google search.

From there, you add the website files to the root, add all the permissions, finish until the files are done uploading and you’ll be able to see your domain LIVE.

CONGRATS! You made it to the end of the tutorial. You were able to build your website from start to finish. You used the basic tools you needed, downloaded a free HTML template (, modified the template’s images and content to adapt it to your company, and took your website LIVE!

Now you have complete control over your website and you can start promoting it immediately!
